Fairchild Air Force Base Fitness Center

This facility combines athletic, wellness, and mission‑critical training environments into a single, high‑performance complex built for flexibility, realism, and energy efficiency.
This 79,000‑square‑foot Fitness Center and Natatorium was designed as a highly versatile facility supporting recreation, athletics, and specialized military training. The fitness center includes an NCAA‑regulation basketball court with wood bleachers, a mezzanine‑level running track, racquetball courts, group exercise rooms, multiple weight training areas, classrooms, offices, locker rooms, and administrative spaces for the Health and Wellness Center. The natatorium features a wading pool and an Olympic‑size competition pool engineered to support Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training, with dedicated classrooms, equipment storage, locker rooms, and a METS module mezzanine. Advanced systems, including an overhead crane, wave generation equipment, wind and rain simulation, and adjustable water levels, allow realistic training scenarios to be conducted safely. Energy‑efficient building systems and water‑heating strategies contributed to achieving LEED® Gold certification.
