The Katerra CLT Manufacturing Plant in Spokane Valley, WA, is a 270,000 SF facility originally opened in 2019 as the largest cross-laminated timber (CLT) production plant in North America, with the capacity to produce up to 13 million square feet annually. Located on a 29-acre site with rail and interstate access, the facility features advanced automation and one of the world’s largest CLT presses, converting small-diameter timber from regional forests into engineered wood panels suitable for mid- and high-rise construction. Following Katerra’s bankruptcy in 2021, the plant was acquired by Mercer International and successfully reopened, continuing operations under Mercer Mass Timber with much of the original workforce.
