The First Interstate Center for the Arts celebrates performance, public art, and architecture, delivering a renewed cultural hub for downtown Spokane.
Originally constructed for Expo ’74 and formerly known as the INB Performing Arts Center, the First Interstate Center for the Arts underwent a comprehensive renovation focused on enhancing the guest experience while preserving its historic character. The project improved ADA accessibility, upgraded backstage circulation, modernized lobbies and finishes, and replaced outdated building systems, including the exterior glass curtain wall and major mechanical and electrical infrastructure. Interior enhancements included a complete ceiling replacement, renovated VIP spaces, and the transformation of the former Music Room into a premium lower‑level lounge with refined architectural detailing. The renovation also incorporated a signature public art installation in the main lobby, reinforcing the venue’s role as a cultural destination in downtown Spokane.
