The renovation of Dean Hall reflects a bold commitment to sustainability, campus revitalization, and the creation of a modern learning environment.
Dean Hall at Central Washington University was renovated using the Design‑Bid‑Build delivery model and earned LEED® Gold Certification in 2010, making it the campus’s first LEED‑rated building. Originally built as a science facility, the building closed in 1998 due to contamination before being reimagined with sustainable features such as energy‑efficient lighting, water‑saving fixtures, native landscaping, and locally sourced materials. Today, Dean Hall is home to the Museum of Culture and Environment, several academic departments, and a graduate resource management program, supporting hands-on learning and environmental awareness.
