Washington State University Biotechnology/Life Sciences

The Biotechnology/Life Sciences Facility delivers a high‑performance research environment with robust, redundant building systems designed to support mission‑critical scientific discovery.
The WSU Biotechnology/Life Sciences Facility is a 130,000 SF, five‑level research building with a penthouse designed to support advanced biotechnology research. The cast‑in‑place concrete structure houses research and core laboratories, lab support spaces, a vivarium, offices, and conference rooms, all supported by highly specialized mechanical and electrical systems. The building connects to campus steam, chilled water, and power systems through an underground utilidor and features VAV air handling with fan‑wall technology, dedicated exhaust systems for sensitive research environments, integrated heat recovery, and mission‑critical emergency power serving specialized laboratories and vivarium spaces. Delivered using the GC/CM delivery model, the facility incorporates redundant campus utilities and efficient lighting controls to ensure reliable, continuous operation for complex scientific research.
