The 79,150 SF Ella Baker Elementary School was developed to support growth in the Redmond Ridge community and serves 690 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Designed within a forested, urban planned development, the school includes 30 classrooms, shared program spaces for music, art and science, special education, a library, cafeteria/commons, a gymnasium, and a covered outdoor play area. Flexible, light‑filled learning environments emphasize comfort, adaptability, and a range of teaching styles. The building is organized into smaller forms along a central circulation spine, using color‑coded wayfinding and sloped roofs to reduce scale and blend with the surrounding residential neighborhood. Outdoor patios, trails, and wetland buffers integrate the campus into the community while supporting sustainable site strategies, including daylighting and energy‑use optimization.
