This project created an integrated education and community hub, connecting schools, public resources, and safe pedestrian spaces into a cohesive campus.
Shaw Middle School and On Track Academy delivered a 200,000 SF educational and community campus. The 155,000 SF Shaw Middle School includes 41 classrooms, a kitchen, administration offices, a gymnasium, and the Hillyard branch of the Spokane Public Library, while the 51,000 SF On Track Academy provides 13 classrooms, shop spaces, STEM labs, creative suites for arts and earth science, a commons, administration offices, and a community outreach center. Campus improvements extended beyond the buildings to include the Cook Street enhancement, which improved connectivity and traffic calming between the school, library, transit academy, and community center, along with new plazas, playgrounds, landscaping, and a connection to the Children of the Sun Trail, creating an open, integrated campus for students and the surrounding community.
