Lincoln High School

This renovation thoughtfully reimagined a landmark campus by pairing historic character, material reuse, and modern learning spaces.
Originally built in 1906 and designated a Seattle historic landmark, Lincoln High School was modernized with a high-tech update to its 194,000 SF campus while preserving its historic character. Learning spaces and building systems were upgraded, with original areas adapted for new uses, including transforming the former auditorium into a state‑of‑the‑art library and media center and converting the old gym into larger classrooms. Materials were reused throughout the campus, and new commons areas and a central courtyard improved connectivity. Located in the Wallingford neighborhood, the project required careful planning to minimize community impacts and now serves 1,600 students, helping relieve overcrowding in north Seattle.
