Rainier Beach High School
This phased replacement delivered a 275,000 SF high school while keeping a busy campus operational throughout construction.
The Rainier Beach High School Replacement Project delivered a new four‑story, 275,000‑square‑foot high school providing permanent space for up to 1,600 students while maintaining on‑site operations for approximately 750 students and staff throughout construction. With the campus remaining occupied, the project required careful phasing and close coordination with the design team and permitting agencies to align approvals with the District’s phased occupancy needs. The work was completed in five phases, including early phases that allowed for installation of 308 geothermal wells and selective demolition of portions of the existing building, enabling site reorganization and construction of the new main facility with minimal disruption.
