A historic high school modernization preserving architectural character while delivering seismic, accessibility, and system upgrades.
The Mount Vernon High School Old Main modernization revitalizes the historic 1922 building through comprehensive upgrades that preserve its architectural character while improving functionality and safety. The project includes seismic strengthening, new stair towers, a new roof and window systems, an elevator, and expanded classroom capacity, along with full MEP, life safety, and accessibility upgrades to meet current ADA standards. Historic elements such as brick, terra cotta, plaster, and terrazzo are carefully restored, while the auditorium is returned to its original size and function.
